2/29/2024 0 Comments Mac os 10.5.8 has no boot campIf he refuses, then call Apple directly and explain your situation. Call the guy you bought the Mac from and ask for the disks. If you really do not have the disks, then you obviously got the Mac second hand (or stolen). You are not in the MORONIC windows world where the OS install CD image is saved on the HDD that the System is also installed on, so that if your drive crashes, you loose everything, and you then own a very expensive paper weight. □ Or wear oven mitts, 'cause that Mac is hot!! If you did not receive these disks with your Mac, I would check with the guy who "found" your Mac after it fell off a truck. If you do not have the disk, you will be told to take it to an Apple Service Center and you will be charged whatever the going rate is. If you start having hardware problems and call Apple, they will tell you to insert the Restore disk to test the hardware. Each Restore disk is specific to your make and model Mac, so you need to have the EXACT Restore disk for your Mac. Thanks for the replies, and hope the process helps anyone else having the same problem.ĪLL Macs ship with 2 DVDs: the Mac OS X Install and the Software Restore Disk (which contains ALL the software installed on your Mac at the factory, and also contains hardware testing applications specific to your Mac and Tech Tools Pro). This process does not take any longer than using Bootcamp Assistant, but it is less intuitive. NOTE: these BOOTCAMP installs will NOT run unless you have already run the BOOTCAMP setup found on you Mac OS X install DVD. You will need to D/L v3.1 AND v3.2 exe files and install in order. Go to the Apple web site, Support, Downloads, search for BOOTCAMP, and download the updated BOOTCAMP installs. Once you have connected to a device on the Windows side, then you can turn on Bluetooth on the Mac side and both sides will be able to use bluetooth devices.Īt this point you can now use the Bootcamp icon to restart back into Mac OS X, or on restart, hold down the option key and select Mac OS X.Ĩ. Otherwise, Windows will not be able to connect to the bluetooth device even though Windows detects it. NOTE: IF you are using a Bluetooth mouse or keyboard with a laptop, make sure you have Bluetooth disabled on the Mac side first. Once in Win 7 again, all the hardware will be recognized, and you will be able to select the full screen resolution, airport card, etc. Restart, using the option key, select Windows 7 (Bootcamp).Ħ.Once in Win 7, insert the Mac OS X install DVD, and run Setup.exe to install the bootcamp drivers. Once install was complete, remove Win 7 Install CD (Otherwise, when the system restarts it will try to boot from the install CD, but can't, and a folder with a question mark will be displayed)ĥ. In Win 7 setup, selected the BOOTCAMP partition and let the setup program format the partition to NTFS. Restart holding down the option key, and then selecting the Win 7 CDģ. Insert Win 7 install CD after creating a 30 GB partition with Disk Utility.Ģ. I was able to install Win 7 though with the following procedure:ġ. I ran Disk Warrior to make sure everything on the drive was properly constructed and set.
